All works on this site which are not my original writing, art, design, or other creative expression are used within their respective licenses, restrictions, or other terms.

The original material contained herein may not be reprinted, reproduced, copied, sold, "borrowed", made into tubes (stamps, nozzles, etc.), sigtags, web graphics, added to any other collection or gallery, or circulated in any way (electronically or otherwise) without the written permission of the artist, Bonni Elizabeth Hall.

And you know what? I hate that I have to put this stuff in here, but certain unscrupulous people have made me feel that I must. I don't actually think this information will change any of the hardcore plagiarists and other copyright violators, because those people know they're doing wrong and they don't care, and may even take pride in "snagging" or "ripping" and recirculating images in various forms. However, maybe one or two people who are unaware of these issues may be enlightened.

Furthermore, if I state it all as plainly as possible, the unrepentant and unethical will have no excuse like, "I didn't know it was copyrighted,".

What it amounts to is that I, as the creator of original works, own the right to decide who may or may not copy and use my work. That's what "copyright" means. Unless I give you permission, you do not have the right to copy my work (written or graphical), and if you do so, you're probably violating international copyright laws.

Yes, you can, within the "fair use" clause, use copyrighted material for your personal and PRIVATE use. However, putting someone else's copyrighted material on a website or cutting it up and redistributing it or adding it to some sort of digital collection is neither private nor personal. Private means YOU have access to it, not everyone who visits your website or is on a mailing list with you! Redistribution in ANY FORM is strictly prohibited.

In the past, I've had people just waltz in and steal parts of my websites. Content, page design (as in: an exact copy of the source, including font colors and sizes), graphics, artwork, you name it. I've had my images made into tubes, and I've been called names and attacked when I confronted the violators and told them to remove my work.

If you'd like to know more about copyright laws and related issues, visit the Resources directory at Alicorna (my web design site) for loads of linksto sites on this topic.
